Third Experience : Move On To Western Food

One night after a long work day we were craving for some good food. So we come downtown and looking for something good to make our gloomy tummy become bright again. After we were sightseeing, and after long debate what kind of food should we pick, we choose western food as dinner. Johnny Rockets it is!

Johnny Rockets has appearance like common American diner. Since it is located in Indonesia, Pondok Indah Mall accurately, this American diner looks stand out with mostly red color on it compared to other restaurant around it.

You will be greeted with smiles and a big jukebox. We don't know the jukebox is still working or just a decoration. Anyway, we feel treated professionally by the crew who really did their homework such as menu knowledge and awareness to each table equipment. Each table has complete condiments and equipment. You'll find tissues, a bottle full of straws, and condiments like tomato sauce, chili sauce, salt, and ready-to-grind-black-pepper. Mine didn't have chili sauce back then and the waiter had an initiative to bring us one.

One set of condiments (with a glass of cola) is at your service.

It is an opened restaurant with fences and green plants around it. Like we said above, red is the dominant color here. Logo, text signs, sofas, and tables have a slight red or all of them is red. Brown is the second color that build the American moods here. It is supported by black and white floor tiles, and metal material from opened pantry here. Let's start with the food, shall we?

Menus here are talking about hamburgers, sandwiches, fries, milkshakes, and their friends. It took some times for us to see it. After a while, well, maybe it's long than a while, we finally choose three big portion dishes. Before all ordered menus are served on your table, the waiter will give you a small plate with smile made from tomato sauce. A simple thing it is and it's made my night.

Two fine slices of BLT. Don't forget the black pepper!

First comer is Bacon Lettuce Tomato or the famous BLT Sandwich. As we all know, bacon, lettuce, and tomato are stars in this dish. It is a big slice of sandwich, cut in two pieces, and finely arranged on clean wrapping white paper and shallow basket. Let's take first bite! A light flavor slowly flows from the harmony all of them with a slight of savory taste. Crisps texture feel comes from bacon slices. The solid bread taste just right in there. Unfortunately, it tend has flat plain flavor. Thanks to the existence of holy black pepper! We grab the black pepper and begin to grind it on top of the bacon. Make it hard, we have Indonesian tongue, and tummy of course, to satisfy. Here comes the second bite. YES! It's soooo much much better! Harmony of richer flavor is bursting in our mouth and we finish it in seconds. Very recommended!

We like the crumble texture and the onions mixture.

Route 66 Combo is our second guest star here. The combo here means the hamburger will accompanied with french fries and a glass of cola. Unlike BLT which has light flavor, Route 66 hamburger has a heavier, greasier taste, but not too sloppy. Beef patty inside it has a savory flavor and crumble texture. It mixed well with other ingredients: caramelized, yet wet onions and mushrooms.

A complex taste of Route 66.

Combination of mayonnaise and other mixed sauce bring tingling sweet taste and mild savory, so it becomes a complex flavor. Those heaviness mixed well with soft airy buns on top and bottom it.

It has some companions.

When we finished half of it, however, the taste becomes too much, too heavy. Luckily there are two of us, so we can share it equally and no more. Maybe we should eat it first and finish it while it's hot. Overall, it's a great dish while hot!

Double patties, double cheeses.

Rocket Double is our third meal. When we see the ingredients, it's not much different from BLT, except for the patties and cheeses. Unlike Route 66, Rocket Double has a lighter taste from the previous hamburger, thanks to the lettuces and tomatoes. The beef patty isn't crumble, but not too solid, and the cheese wrap the patty well, so we meet the balance taste. We can't tell much for the buns, as it's quite same as Route 66's.

Lettuce and tomato bring the fresh mood.

Well, it has savory taste but it's not quite stand out compares to two other dishes. Even so, if you like hamburger but want it light, Rocket Double maybe can answer your craves. Watch out the patty! It contains some bone pieces in it, so make sure they don't harm your teeth.
